Arena League R1 2021

Mark the day in your diary... 3pm 9th October ... after a very long wait #TeamBackwell were back in competition for the 1st round of the Arena League 2021. 

Swimming in Bridgewater this was an unusual gala in that the teams we were physically swimming against were not actually those we were competing against for points this round.  To help with Covid risk management, clubs were put together to swim geographically and the actual points on the night mean nothing.  The gala points and the league points will be awarded later.

However, the swim times as you would expect, still stand.... and WOW!  Despite all the disruption to training that our team has suffered over the last 18 months there were an incredible 26 PB's set on the night AND a club record in the 18yr category for Reece Lenthall in the 100 Backstroke.  The coaches could not have asked for more!!!

Well done to everyone who took part... even behind the face masks it was obvious that every swimmer and coach were grinning from ear to ear throughout the whole gala.  

Roll on Round 2 which takes place at a venue TBC on Saturday 13th November!
