Cotswold League A Final 2022 Results 

An incredible gutsy performance from the #TeamBackwell squad that represented the club in this year's A Final held at Hutton Moor on Sat 14th May.

Getting to the A Final was a real result in itself and a result of all the hard work put in by those swimmers who swam in any of the first 4 rounds of the league series which started back in Jan.  

The A final consists of the top 8 teams in the league after 4 rounds.  That meant that this year #TeamBackwell were competing against Bridgwater, Swim Academy Burnham, Wells, Bath Dolphin, Cwmbran, Brockworth and City of Bristol.

It was close racing all night with the top 3 places changing across the course of the night between Backwell, Bridgwater and City of Bristol.  With just 13 races to go the lead was tied between Bridgwater and City of Bristol on 211 points and #TeamBackwell were in 3rd on 205.  A fantastic final push by our amazing swimmers allowed us to claw back points to pip City of Bristol and take 2nd place overall.. just 10 points behind the winners on the night - Bridgwater.

On the night we also had a club record broken by our Masters swimmer Phil Duma who took a further 0.72 seconds off his own 100m Breaststroke record set back in December 2019 with a new mark of 1:13.54 !  WELL DONE PHIL!
